I think you'll like it. So I was thrilled when I tried Dreamfields and found that I could detect no difference in taste or texture between it and traditional pasta. I love pasta, but too many carbs really mess up my head (literally. I get nasty headaches). If you're living a low-carb lifestyle, give this pasta a try.
It does cost more than regular pasta, but it is worth it to me to be able to eat pasta again. Highly Recommended. I was not sure about Dreamfields' claim to only have 5 carbs, but we gave it a try anyway. This has been one of the biggest impacts to my diet as we love Italian cooking. Being a Type 2 Diabetic, I am always looking for ways to reduce my carb intake. This great tasting pasta is a diabetic's Godsend. Up till now that has meant avoiding pasta completely since a single serving of normal pasta has about 35 - 40 carbs. After having a full serving, my blood sugar levels only took a modest rise, about what I would have expected from 5 carbs (plus the 15 others from the rest of the meal).
I would not buy any other pasta other than this. Great. Brought up on pasta all my life, I was looking for a pasta product that was low in carbs and didn't taste like carboard. I finally found it in this product. Also glad to see the variety of pasta they make.
It's one of those great tasting things that is coincidentally zero carbs. Netrition dot com has it for two dollars and fifty cents. And that's a heaping mountain of spaghetti. It tastes completely like regular spaghetti. 8^) For a perfect match, there's a marinara sauce called Vito's Garlic Sauce.
Life is good. This stuff is awesome. It's kind of expensive here though. So I cook up half a box of these spaghettit noodles, pour 1/3 a jar of Vito's on it along with some sliced mushrooms and parmesan cheese and altogether it's maybe 18 carbs.
I tested every hour after eating for a total of four hours. I had one serving size and I used an oil and garlic sauce rather than a tomato-based spaghetti sauce.
I had normal blood sugar ( Before eating: 691 Hour: 622 Hour: 703 Hour: 824 Hour: 69 There was a bit of a delay.
All numbers are in mg/dL. That being said, my numbers all stayed in very good range.
I am a Type 2 diabetic and I experimented with Dreamfield's one day for lunch. (I tested for four hours because, apparently, some diabetics experience delayed blood sugar spikes in the third or fourth hour).
My blood sugar peaked at 82 at the three-hour mark, whereas I'm usually higher at one hour.
